Privacy Policy
Your store data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains how Inventory Aging collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our Shopify application.
1. Overview
Inventory Aging ("we", "our", or "us") provides inventory analytics, inventory aging insights, slow-moving inventory detection, discount management, and automated discount functionality for Shopify merchants.
This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information accessed through your Shopify store when you install and use the Inventory Aging app.
2. Information We Access
To provide inventory analytics and discount functionality, the app may access information from your Shopify store, including:
- Product information — product titles, descriptions, handles, product IDs, and product status.
- Variant information — variant IDs, SKUs, inventory quantities, prices, and product relationships.
- Inventory information — inventory quantities and inventory-related information required to identify aging or slow-moving stock.
- Order information — information required to determine product sales history and calculate when inventory was last sold.
- Collection information — collection and product relationships required for inventory selection and discount rules.
- Store information — your Shopify store identifier and information required to authenticate and operate the application.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the information accessed from your Shopify store only as necessary to provide and improve the functionality of Inventory Aging.
- Calculate inventory age and days since an item was sold.
- Identify slow-moving inventory and potentially dead stock.
- Provide inventory aging reports, dashboards, and analytics.
- Calculate sales velocity and other inventory-related insights.
- Allow merchants to identify products or variants that may require discounts.
- Apply or revert discounts when requested by the merchant.
- Automatically apply discounts when configured discount rules are satisfied.
- Synchronize relevant Shopify product, inventory, order, and collection data.
- Maintain application functionality, security, and reliability.
4. Inventory Aging Analytics
Inventory Aging uses product, variant, inventory, and sales information to generate inventory insights.
For example, the application may compare a variant's current inventory with its sales history to determine whether the inventory is aging or moving slowly.
These calculations are used to help merchants make better inventory management and discount decisions.
5. Discount Features
Inventory Aging provides both manual and automated discount functionality.
Merchants may use the dashboard to manually apply or revert discounts on eligible variants.
Merchants may also configure automated discount rules. When a variant satisfies the conditions configured by the merchant, the application may automatically apply the corresponding discount through Shopify.
Merchants are responsible for reviewing and configuring their discount rules appropriately.
6. Data Storage
Certain store and application data may be stored on our infrastructure to provide inventory analytics, synchronization, background processing, discount automation, and other application functionality.
We store only the information reasonably necessary to operate the application and provide its features.
We do not sell merchant store data or use merchant data for unrelated advertising purposes.
7. Customer Data
Inventory Aging is designed to provide inventory and sales analytics without requiring unnecessary access to personally identifiable customer information.
Where order information is used to calculate sales history, the application uses the information necessary for that calculation and does not require customer personal information to provide inventory aging insights.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by Inventory Aging against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Access to application data is restricted to systems and processes necessary to operate the service.
However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
9. Shopify Data and Permissions
Inventory Aging accesses Shopify data through Shopify's authorized APIs and permissions granted during app installation.
The application uses the permissions required to provide its inventory analytics, synchronization, and discount functionality.
We do not request access to information that is unnecessary for the application's core functionality.
10. Data Retention
We retain store and application data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service and maintain the application's functionality.
When a merchant uninstalls Inventory Aging, we process the merchant's data in accordance with Shopify's requirements and our applicable data retention obligations.
11. App Uninstallation
When you uninstall Inventory Aging, Shopify notifies our application of the uninstallation.
We process the relevant uninstall event and take appropriate steps to remove or delete store data that is no longer required, subject to legal, security, or operational requirements that may require limited retention.
12. Third-Party Services
We may use trusted third-party infrastructure and service providers to operate Inventory Aging, such as hosting, database, email, monitoring, and other infrastructure services.
These providers may process information on our behalf only to the extent necessary to provide their services.
13. Merchant Responsibilities
Merchants are responsible for ensuring that their use of Inventory Aging complies with applicable laws, regulations, and Shopify's terms and policies.
Merchants should also review their configured automated discount rules to ensure that discounts are applied according to their intended business practices.
14. Your Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights relating to information associated with your store, including rights to access, correct, delete, or request information about how your data is processed.
If you have a privacy-related request, please contact us using the contact information below.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our application, data practices, legal requirements, or services.
When changes are made, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
